The special VBS technology uses centrifugal force instead of magnets to aid in controlling the cast. When turned on, the individual brake weights are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. As soon as the spool speed slows, the pressure with which the brake weights contact the raceway lessons to allow the spool to continue spinning. This reel also has anti-rust bearings (A-RB) that are specially treated to maximize corrosion resistance and make them last up to 10 times longer in high salinity environments as well as High Efficiency Gearing (HEG).
